Sometimes our guests arrive from far away. Not just from another city, but from another country. And although Villa Topi in the village of Kaloyanovo, near Plovdiv, often welcomes people from all over Bulgaria, there is something special about the moments when our guests come from abroad to discover our country.
We rarely meet all of our guests in person. The house is organized in a way that allows people to arrive спокойно, at any time, without worrying whether someone will be there to welcome them. But sometimes, small stories happen that remind us why we do all of this.
A Late Arrival for a Journey Through Bulgaria
Some time ago, we received a message from guests who were landing very late in the evening at Plovdiv Airport. They had written to make sure that when they arrived—no matter the hour—they would have easy access to the villa.
They shared that they had rented a car and planned to travel around Bulgaria over the next few weeks. They chose Villa Topi as one of their first stops, looking for a peaceful place outside the big city, yet in a central location.
In moments like these, we realize how important the first impression is.
When someone arrives after a long flight, a night journey, and unfamiliar roads, the most valuable thing is to feel expected and truly welcome.
A Small Gesture That Says “Welcome”
That’s why we decided to leave something simple, yet truly Bulgarian. In the kitchen, they found a bowl with: whole grain bread, traditional Bulgarian lutenitsa, white cheese, yellow cheese, cured meat, and fresh fruit. Next to it—a small note in English: “Welcome to Villa Topi…”
It may seem like a small gesture. But for us, it’s a way to say: “We’re happy you’re here.”
A Central Location to Explore Southern Bulgaria
Many international guests choose Villa Topi in Kaloyanovo because it is a perfect starting point for exploring the region.
Within a short distance of up to 25 km, you will find:
- Plovdiv – one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe
- Starosel – known for its Thracian temples and wineries
- Hisarya – famous for its mineral springs and SPA complexes
- Mineral pools and balneotherapy resorts
- Eco trails and nature
- Horse riding base
- Dragon Race Track – a popular place for automotive events
This way, guests can combine peaceful relaxation with access to a variety of experiences.
A Place Where Memories Are Created
We have always said that the most beautiful part of sharing this house is that it continues to live through the people who stay in it.
And sometimes—a simple bowl of bread, lutenitsa, and cheese can say more than a thousand words.
