The house was created as a dream come true – a home in the countryside, furnished and arranged with great care and love. Since we are not able to enjoy it as much as we would like, we decided to share it with people who, like us, appreciate peace, nature, and that special feeling of life in the countryside.
We are happy to have you as our guests!
We hope that here you will be able to slow down, truly relax, and feel at home.
To make things easier for you from your very first day, we have gathered in one place the most useful information about the village of Kaloyanovo, food and shops nearby, restaurants, and interesting places to visit around Villa Topi.
Where can you eat and shop in our village of Kaloyanovo?
The easiest option, of course, is to prepare something you love at the house or fire up the barbecue in the garden. But if you don’t feel like cooking or simply want to try something local, there are several options very close by.
1. Hot food stand in the center of Kaloyanovo
In the center of Kaloyanovo, next to the bus stop at 6 Asen Gargov Street, there is a food stand with a hot food counter. Every day, they offer a selection of cooked dishes for lunch and dinner, BBQ, salads, and bread.
Opening hours: Monday – Saturday, closed on Sunday.
2. “V & D Demerdzhievi” Grocery Store
“V & D Demerdzhievi” grocery store, next to the hot food counter, is well stocked and you can find almost everything you may need during your stay. Card payments are accepted.
Open every day.
3. Fiore Bakery
Right next door, you will also find Fiore Bakery, where you can pick up freshly baked pastries for breakfast in the morning.
And if you would like to start your day in true Bulgarian style, try a warm banitsa with boza or ayran. 😊
4. “Nashiya Magazin pri Eva” Grocery Store
The nearest grocery store is “Nashiya Magazin pri Eva”. It is located on the side street opposite the Catholic church, only about a 5-minute walk from the villa.
Local dairy products and meat – just a few minutes from Villa Topi
Whenever possible, we choose Bulgarian products and support local producers. So if you also enjoy locally made food, the neighboring village of Zhitnitsa is definitely worth a quick stop. There you will find local dairy and meat producers, where you can shop for your barbecue and dinner at Villa Topi, or pick up something delicious to take home with you when you leave.
This is especially convenient during the summer – there is no need to transport dairy products and meat throughout your journey or worry about keeping them cool in the heat.
1. IKAY Dairy – Zhitnitsa Village
Only about 2 km from Villa Topi, you will find the dairy and company shop of MPP IKAY.
Here you can buy some of the most traditional dairy products found on the Bulgarian table – yogurt, Bulgarian white brined cheese, kashkaval cheese, butter, katak, and various dairy specialties.
And if you are wondering what to try – in our family and among our friends, the katak in a glass jar is a favorite, the children definitely vote for the kashkaval, while between the cheese with Himalayan salt and the homemade-style cheese in a tub, we still haven’t managed to choose a winner.
The company shop is open every day, with no days off.
2. Delikates Zhitnitsa – fresh meat, sausages, and delicacies
The company shop of the “Delikates 2” meat producer is also located in Zhitnitsa.
If you are planning a barbecue, you can buy fresh meat here, as well as a variety of sausages, cured meats, and delicacies.
It is also a very convenient stop on your way home from Villa Topi if you would like to take something tasty from the region with you.
“Delikates Zhitnitsa” Company Shop, Zhitnitsa Village
Opening hours: Monday – Sunday, 08:00 – 20:00.

If you enjoy fish
About 30–40 minutes from Villa Topi, you will find Byala Reka Fish Restaurant – one of the places we personally enjoy and recommend for fish dishes and a peaceful outing outside the village.
What can you do and visit around Villa Topi?
You probably already have some ideas about what you would like to see in the Plovdiv region. But if you have some free time, here are our top 10 suggestions – some of them are also suitable for children.
1. Dragon Race Track – right here in Kaloyanovo
Yes, our village has its own race track. 😊
Dragon Race Track is well known among car and motorcycle enthusiasts. If there is a practice session or event during your stay, you can stop by, have a coffee, and experience the atmosphere around the track. It is especially worth checking the track’s schedule in advance if you are staying over the weekend.
2. Trakiets Equestrian Center
Just a few minutes by car from us, you will find Trakiets Equestrian Center.
Entry to the stables and walks through the park are free. Children may enjoy riding a pony or a horse, and the restaurant at the complex is another good option for a meal in the area.
Under certain conditions, the swimming pool may also be available to outside visitors for an additional fee.
3. The Lavender Fields
In the area around Kaloyanovo – on the road towards Hisarya, on the left-hand side – you will find the lavender fields of Lavender World, which are especially beautiful during the flowering season.
This year there are no specially arranged photo settings, but the fields themselves are well worth a visit. Please keep in mind that these are real agricultural fields, so their appearance depends on the season and the timing of the harvest.
You can enjoy the lavender, take beautiful photos, and purchase natural lavender and locally produced lavender products.
And an interesting fact for our international guests – Bulgaria is one of the world’s well-known producers of lavender and lavender oil, and the Sredna Gora region has played an important role in the development of this production.
If you are staying with us during the flowering season, just ask us and we will be happy to point you towards the fields.
4. Terme di Hissar – Mineral Pools in Hisarya
If you feel like spending a day by the pool, our recommendation is Terme di Hissar in the town of Hisarya.
The complex offers mineral pools for relaxation and swimming, an indoor mineral pool, children’s pools, and relaxation areas. You can combine a day by the mineral water with a walk around Hisarya – one of the greenest and most interesting historical towns in the region.
5. Staro Zhelezare – a Village Turned into an Open-Air Gallery
If you enjoy unusual places, visit the village of Staro Zhelezare.
The walls and fences of many houses are painted with portraits of local residents alongside world-famous personalities, gradually transforming the village into a unique open-air gallery.
A walk around the village does not take long and is a great idea to combine with a visit to Hisarya.
A Few More Places That Are Well Worth Your Time
6. Plovdiv – Ancient, Artistic, and Always Different
Of course – Plovdiv. The city is only about 25 km from Villa Topi and definitely deserves at least one day. Plovdiv is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Europe, with a history stretching back thousands of years. Thracians, Romans, Byzantines, Ottomans, and Bulgarians have all left their mark, and today you can literally walk through different historical periods.
Visit the Old Town, the Ancient Theatre, the Roman Stadium, and Nebet Tepe, take a walk along the main pedestrian street, and then leave some time for coffee, wine, or dinner in the artistic Kapana district.
Plovdiv is a city you don’t simply have to sightsee – give yourself some time to simply experience it.
7. Starosel – Following in the Footsteps of the Ancient Thracians
Starosel is a wonderful choice for a half-day trip.
The area is home to one of Bulgaria’s most impressive Thracian temple complexes – the complex at Chetinyova Mogila. Discovered in 2000, it takes us back to the time of the Thracian rulers and their religious rituals. After exploring the history, you can visit Starosel Winery, have lunch, and if you enjoy wine, take home a bottle of good Bulgarian wine as a souvenir.
History, wine, and the beautiful slopes of Sredna Gora – this is why Starosel is one of the places we always recommend.
8. Hisarya – Much More Than SPA and Mineral Pools
Hisarya – mineral water and 1,700 years of history. Since ancient times, the mineral springs have attracted people to this area, and during the reign of the Roman Emperor Diocletian, the city of Diocletianopolis developed here.
To this day, you can see impressive sections of the Roman fortress walls, the famous southern gate known as “The Camels”, Roman baths, and archaeological remains surrounded by beautiful green parks.
Hisarya is a wonderful idea for a full day – a morning walk through history, lunch in town, followed by an afternoon relaxing in the mineral pools at Terme di Hissar.
9. Mineral Springs and Pools in the Area
There are many mineral springs around Villa Topi.
In addition to Terme di Hissar, you can also explore:
■ Krasnovo Mineral Baths
■ other SPA and swimming pool options in Hisarya
■ the village of Banya
The region is well known for its mineral waters and offers a variety of options – from simple mineral pools to modern SPA complexes.
10. And If You Simply Want to Relax…
That is a wonderful plan too. 😊
Not every day of your stay needs to be filled with activities.
You can have breakfast in the garden, make a quick trip to Zhitnitsa for some good cheese and fresh meat, fire up the barbecue in the evening, pour yourself a glass of wine, and simply enjoy being together.
For us, this is part of the spirit of Villa Topi – a place where the day can move a little more slowly.
And if you are interested in something specific or your trip has a particular focus, please don’t hesitate to ask us.
We will be happy to guide you and help you discover the places that best suit the season and your interests.
Welcome to Villa Topi!
Make yourself at home. 💚
