To where?
In our proposals for a one-day trip, the city of Plovdiv always comes first. Especially if you are from another region of Bulgaria.
It is not by chance that Plovdiv was chosen as the European Capital of Culture 2019. There are so many places worth visiting and seeing first hand that it is impossible to do it in 1 day.
But since we assume that a person rents a villa to get out of the routine of everyday life, to relax and have fun, therefore in several posts about Plovdiv we will give you starting points only for such places, without ranking them.
Youth Hill – a protected area in the city
One of them, without a doubt, is Youth Hill. The city of Plovdiv is the only city in Europe on the territory of which there are three protected areas. The largest of which is a natural landmark “Youth Hill”. It is located on an area of over 32 hectares. Until the middle of the last century, it was called “Jendem Tepe” and was called “Bare Hill”. In the 60s of the 20th century, it stood out as a natural landmark, keeping within itself a wide variety of plant and animal species.
“Youth Hill” is a large territory, which is specially maintained, so that you can understand the feeling of “ayljak”, so typical for the people of Plovdiv. Here you can spend several hours dedicated to complete relaxation. There is a picnic area for lounging and games. For the more adventurous, you can climb to the top of the hill. Here you can enjoy a bird’s eye view of the city. There is also a rest area where you can rest before descending back to the park.
Aylyak on Mladezhki Hill
At the foot of the park there are huge green areas, suitable for shared laziness with friends or active games. You can organize a picnic yourself or bet on one of the artistic places there. You will often be able to take something as a souvenir from Bulgarian artists.
First of all, the area “Mladezhki hilm” is a recreation area. Here you can relax in the city without feeling the urban environment. Honestly, if that’s the only idea, you’d be better off staying in Topi Villa‘s courtyard.
